Welcome to Taiga Forest School

Taiga School came to be because we grew up in nature and it was wonderful. We want the same for our kids and for the kids we can reach. Childhood in nature is a way to develop resilience, physical skills, and to explore the world through interacting with it, rather than by answering questions in notebooks.

We have collected literature on this topic in the section about "forest schools". There is a lot of research confirming what intuitively feels true—growing up in nature is good for the body and mind. We have written about our values, for instance, how our approach prioritizes the child's interests, providing attentive adult participation where necessary, and offering freedom where the child is ready for it.
